-Eli Dominic Heller, 37, oldest of three boys born to a Jewish family in Boston, Massachusetts. Brothers Aaron (32) and Gabriel (35).
-has been obsessed with movies and filmmaking since he was about eight years old, and has basically always wanted to make horror movies since then. He started making short horror movies around the age of eight with his parents' video camera and progressed to better equipment of his own at around 14.
-raised devoutly Jewish, his faith is extremely important to him. Speaks Yiddish, writes fluently in Hebrew, and keeps Kosher. He was thrilled when his wife converted and is glad that his children will be raised Jewish since his faith is extremely important to him.
-went to boarding school at the age of 19 for his senior year of high school to study film in a more individual capacity after only doing mediocre at his private school in Boston. He met his wife at this boarding school, she was 15 and he was 19. They began dating shortly after their initial meeting and Eli was basically instantly smitten.
-in what he considers a life-changing snap decision, he murdered Brenna's sexually abusive brother in a fit of passion. He has carried the guilt of this even with him ever since, but he doesn't necessarily regret the decision--something had to be done and he was the one to do it. These events prompted him to become more devout in his faith to the point where he is now.
-he and Brenna broke up after he graduated and didn't speak for several years thereafter. Eli went to UCLA and studied filmmaking there and wrote his first film, "No, Master" (based loosely on the events of Brenna's life while he was in school with her) while attending.
-has to date put out four films (No, Master, Rockslide, Bloodbath Hotel, and The Bloodsuckers) to mostly critical acclaim. He is a reasonably well known director in the horror gentre and some critics even say he "invented" the torture porn genre. He continues to work on films while spending time with his family, and mostly works from home when he's not filming.
-met his wife again at the age of 29, and after rekindling their friendship, they were soon married again.
-had some initial difficulty getting pregnant with their first child, Finn, but after a few early miscarriages and general lack of success, his wife fell pregnant with their daughter, and she was born healthy on Valentine's Day 2003. Their subsequent pregnancies were conceived easily, so the initial difficulty was basically just fluke.
-father to four children, Finn Cora, seven, Makaio (Kai) Brandon, six, Ezra Lehi, four, and Ian James, one.
-aside from his work, his children are the thing he is most proud of. He loves his babies and talks incessantly about them when you let him.
-is in an open relationship with his wife. He has only once ever taken advantage of the open relationship while his wife has done so more often, but he is comfortable with the dynamic and is glad they found something that works for them, especially because his wife has a crazy libido that is much higher than his.
